This weekend is possibily the most exciting weekend in 30 years for Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix fans. On Sunday Mark Webber could be the 2010 Formula One champion – the first since Alan Jones. This means we could be starting the 2011 Melbourne Grand Prix event with an Australian Grand Prix Champion on the Albert Park grid. As Grand Prix fans and a Melbourne sport travel company, I think this would really give the Australian Formaula One Grand Prix the lift that it needs to take the event into the next 5 years of its life. The Grand Prix Corporation have done a great job adjusting the date, timing and format of the event, but nothing would boost Grand Prix locally like an Australian champion. So how likely is it? Though Red Bull Racing have secured the Constructors Championship for 2010, the Drivers Championship is still wide open. For my money the best break down on all the possible outcomes of all the driver placing at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is in the this article from the UK Guardian Sport Blog, http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/blog/2010/nov/08/formula-1-alonso-webber-vettel-hamilton . Good luck Mark, bring it home for us to enjoy at Albert Park.
